Checklist for Diving Equipment Inspection

Organize and inspect all equipment (such as fins, masks, and snorkels) to ensure it's ready for diving. Performing a pre-dive inspection before entering the water and again after completing the dive will allow for the proper detection of potential problems before an emergency situation arises. This is a comprehensive list of all the items that should be checked to ensure a safe dive.

Diving Equipment
1.1 Check that the regulator is complete and correctly attached to the cylinder.

1.2 Check if the pressure is adequate for the desired depth.

1.3 Check that the computers are correctly configured for temperature, depth and pressure.

1.4 Check if the diving strap fits properly: It should be soft but firm.

1.5 Check that the fins fit the foot properly.

1.6 Check if the wetsuits are in good condition.

1.7 Check that navigation equipment such as compass, GPS, etc. is in working order.

1.8 Check for the presence of diving lights, in case of night diving.

1.9 Check that the radio beacons are working correctly.

1.10 Check vision, opacity and resistance of the diving mask.

Safety Materials
2.1 Check if the life jacket is in good condition.

2.2 Check that the buoyancy control system is leak-free.

2.3 Check buoyancy control: Free, Semi-buoyant or Watertight.

2.4 Check the shin guards and safety line.

2.5 Check the status of the signaling buoy.

2.6 Check if the equipment labels are in good condition.

2.7 Check neck cushions: glasses, earmuffs and wristbands.

2.8 Check the diving lights.

2.9 Check blades and finite systems.

2.10 Check pocket equipment: knives, crabs and medical instruments.

Accessories
3.1 Check if you have a rescue oxygen bottle.

3.2 Check the underwater camera: memory card, batteries, etc.

3.3 Check if you have the necessary documentation for diving.

3.4 Check sunscreens for your face and arms.

3.5 Check for the presence of shower caps and water bottles to reconstitute liquids.

3.6 Check that the diving harness properly attaches all the elements.

3.7 Check emergency supplies: signage boards, regular/submersible cell phones, medical equipment, etc.

3.8 Check if additional assistance (such as a boat or dive assistant) is available.
